Pilot, Holly

Holly was born on the traditional territory of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan) peoples in Duncan, and lived on Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ territories in Victoria for most of her life before recently moving to Snuneymuxw territory to join the team at Nanaimo Art Gallery as the Visitor and Retail Experience Coordinator.
Holly is an artist and arts manager with a background in community programming, art education, and customer service. She holds a BFA from Emily Carr University and a Graduate Diploma in Arts Management from Queen’s University.
Her practice is collaborative and inspired by socially engaged organizations like Whoop Dee Doo. In Victoria, she partnered with Fernwood Neighbourhood House on Something’s Wrong in Fernwood, a youth-led surrealist art scavenger hunt, developed the Snack Crawl with the Downtown Victoria Business Association, and worked with many local businesses and artists.
When she’s not at the gallery, Holly always has a few creative projects on the go. She is an avid list maker, collagist, film lover, and maker of functional art for her home. She loves finding oddities on Facebook Marketplace, gift giving, and discovering obscure Christmas music.
