How can we work together?
Did you know that at Nanaimo Art Gallery we build our annual programs and exhibitions around shared inquiries? Each year we ask a big question that resonates in our community, providing a touchstone to guide and inspire our work.
Beginning in April 2024 we will ask How can we work together? Through this inquiry we will work with communities to generate conversations and build creative connections. Our exhibitions will involve working collaboratively between artists and organizations. They will share art and stories across generations, and exhibit care for local and global ecosystems. Along with exhibitions, we’ll offer many exciting programs and opportunities to collaborate, and share your passion for art.
Landing
Landing is an online home for Nanaimo Art Gallery’s offsite projects.
The website begins with an artwork: Eliot White-Hill Kwulasultun’s Qp’ilum (Landing), which was commissioned for this project. Eliot describes the work as “a conceptual representation of land and territory, which critiques the conventions of mapping and instead offers how the place called ‘Nanaimo’ exists from my perspective as a Snuneymuxw person.”
We are grateful to Canada Council for the Arts and BC Arts Council for their support of this project.
