Featuring music icons like Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie (now known to be Italian-American), Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, RUMBLE will show how these talented Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives.

Free Admission – Donations welcomed. Popcorn and drinks are available for purchase. All proceeds go directly to supporting Indigenous Programming at Nanaimo Art Gallery.

This film is part of our monthly Indigenous Film Screening Series, Unsettling the Lens, curated by Indigenous Engagement Coordinator bailey macabre and in partnership with the National Film Board of Canada. This series puts Indigenous stories front and center—told by Indigenous filmmakers themselves. From eye-opening documentaries that reframe history to bold, genre-spanning films, Unsettling the Lens celebrates the power, creativity, and diversity of Indigenous cinema.
